Military Maintenance
Defense organizations face many challenges today, ranging from budgetary pressures to a fundamental change in the nature of modern warfare. Although the drivers vary, the effects are the same: mission readiness, agility, interoperability, deployability and end-to-end visibility are critical to deliver enhanced efficiency and asset availability.
With budgets under relentless pressure, the emphasis is increasingly on Through Life Capability— balancing through life cost and operational effectiveness, maximizing availability and incrementally enhancing equipment capabilities in-service. Seemingly gone are the days where months of equipment, platform and personnel buildup precedes military operations. Gone too are substantial parts of the sealift and airlift capability that enabled such buildups. Simply put, the old ways of buildup and logistics support are all but impossible in current and future scenarios. Supply-chains now have to be flexible and responsive, able to deploy anywhere, yet robust enough to cope with extended missions.
