The 'WRAM Online' Solution

 

The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) collaborated with Miro Technologies to design, develop and implement a web-based application called WRAM™ Online to serve as a common management information system, logistics tool, and unit maintenance management tool in support of over 600 Rotary Wing aircraft and 250,000 rotable assets across three MoD services – the Royal Navy, Army and Air Force. What is WRAM Online?

WRAM Online is a web-based Work Recording and Asset Management system. This new generation logistics and maintenance management product combines the battle-proven features of Miro's original, highly successful WRAM application with a new Graphical User Interface built with the latest Oracle and Java technologies.

WRAM Online was designed to provide three important management tools. First, it is an advanced Management Information system; second, it is a uniquely powerful Logistics Management tool, and third, it is a highly effective Unit Maintenance tool.

As a Management Information system, WRAM Online provides users with visibility of all tracked assets; time to overhaul, failure trends, status, geographical and assembly location, demand and supply profiles and asset histories.

As a Logistics Management tool, WRAM Online allows users to monitor the effectiveness of equipment in-service support and maintenance policies, equipment performance, and life cycle costings.

As a Unit Maintenance tool, it provides airworthiness decision support and a paperless working environment in addition to the major benefit of delivering consistent procedures for its users, irrespective of unit or location. Through WRAM Online, military operations are able to eliminate all paper-based engineering record cards. The system also enables fast, efficient and consistent paperless planning and recording of all scheduled maintenance.

WRAM Online was also designed to retain the proven, battle-tested features of the original WRAM application, particularly the unique capability to autonomously support deployed units both ashore and afloat by means of effective data distribution. This means that units in the field can maintain aircraft and control airworthiness in a disconnected environment, entirely without the need to connect their laptops to a remote server.

The iGOLD Solution – combining manufacturing essentials with the complexity of MRO logistics

 

iGOLD™ integrates industry leading available shop floor execution and advanced planning and scheduling applications (APS) into a single, seamless application. iGOLD™ supports electronic maintenance and manufacturing plans, bills of material, resource management and complete inventory management for a comprehensive depot repair solution. iGOLD™ combines the essentials of manufacturing with the complexity of MRO and aftermarket support.

Team Approach Yields Improved Repair Times

A major U.S. airline requested assistance in achieving productivity improvements and cost reductions for its Pratt & Whitney JT9D and PW2000 engine types in the engine repair facility. Using a team approach with production, engineering, planning and planning personnel, maintenance processes were reviewed, rationalized and streamlined. The work included shop floor layouts, work documentation and shop floor controls. The first year results reduced $5 million in inventory ownership and significantly improved availability of material for engine production, which improved repair times for both engine types.
