U.S. Navy T-45 Goshawk Program Upgraded to Latest GOLD Version

La Jolla, CA, USA – August 28, 2006

Miro Technologies is pleased to announce a major upgrade to the GOLD™ system in use by the U.S. Navy’s T-45 Goshawk program at Naval Air Station Kingsville, Texas and Naval Air Station Meridian, Mississippi. In successfully upgrading to the latest version of GOLD, the U.S. Navy and its contractors, L-3 Communications/Vertex Aerospace and Rolls Royce, gained eight years of previously released GOLD software improvements that will now be applied to further improve performance of the T45 program and take advantage of future software releases.  In addition, the T45 program is the first Miro customer to get GOLD 2007 PR1, featuring Uniface v8.3 and Oracle 10g.  Both upgrades are major technical steps forward from prior software versions used by the T45 program.

Goshawk
The T-45A Goshawk is the US Navy's two-seat advanced jet trainer.

GOLD software was first installed in support of the Navy’s T-45 program in 1991 and has been continuously in use at NAS Kingsville, TX and NAS Meridian, MS ever since.  The most recent program upgrade occurred in 1998. Over 180 T-45 aircraft are currently being supported by the GOLD software at both of these two sites.

Because GOLD is an integrated supply and maintenance software application, all levels of maintenance (organizational, intermediate, and depot) and all levels of supply support, including Government-owned Tagged Property accounting, are supported in GOLD.  In the demanding 24/7 training environment, the number of maintenance actions performed for the T-45 program is high—over 18,000 transactions per month.  GOLD handles the load without interruption.  Additionally, data accuracy flowing from the T45 program has remained consistently high throughout the years because of the verification and validation programs inherent in GOLD that conform to the U.S. Navy’s exacting Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) standards.

The T-45A Goshawk entered service with the US Navy in January 1992 as an undergraduate jet pilot advanced trainer. The T-45TS pilot training scheme includes advanced simulators and computer assisted instruction as well as training flight programs. The T45TS prepares U.S. Navy and U. S. Marine pilots for conversion into the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, the AV-8B Harrier and the EA-6B Prowler.  To date, more than 2,100 new aviators have earned their wings in the T-45.
