Miro announces release of GOLDesp v8.4
Functionality footprint expanded to include new RFID module and
CFO reporting and compliance tools
La Jolla, CA, USA – February 15, 2008
Miro Technologies® announced today the release of GOLDesp™ v8.4, the latest version of its new “Enterprise Service Platform” that fuses the latest web and enterprise technologies with the best-of-breed functionality from Miro’s multiple software product lines. GOLDesp v8.4 will include important new functionality, including a new RFID module and Chief Financial Officer reporting and compliance tools. This latest GOLDesp release further strengthens Miro’s position as the leading aftermarket software solution provider for aviation maintenance and supply management in the aerospace & defense market.
Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID)
The new GOLDesp Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) module leverages RFID technology to enhance basic warehousing functions, thus providing customers the ability to more quickly and accurately track and manage inventory through the supply chain with the use of passive RFID tags. The new module will support multiple business processes centering on the movement of material into and out of GOLDesp (receipts and shipments), the movement of material within GOLDesp (bin/location changes), and Passive RFID tag maintenance, such as the commissioning, re-commissioning and decommissioning of a RFID tag and Next Higher Tag maintenance. Advanced Shipment Notice (ASN) transactions will enable the sender to provide RFID tag ID information concerning the contents and configuration of a shipment to enable more efficient receiving operations at the receiving site.
Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Reporting and Compliance
Miro Technologies has developed specialized functionality to meet Department of Defense (DoD) mandated reporting of government equipment in the custody of contractors. Many GOLD customers, and all USAF Contractor Supported Weapons System (CSWS) Programs, are now required to report the value of certain categories of material and property (assets) in their possession to either the Defense Financial Accounting Service (DFAS) or the Air Force Equipment Management System (AFEMS). Three Miro customers received the CFO reporting functionality for Air Force activities in the v8.4.1 release; the June 2008 release of GOLDesp will bring this functionality to all customers.
Item Unique Identification (IUID) item management planned for 2008
Miro also announced that a future (2008) release of GOLDesp will incorporate the initial phase of comprehensive Item Unique Identification (IUID) item tracking, reporting, marking and updating. This is good news, considering that the US Department of Defense (DoD) has now mandated the unique marking of parts that are serially managed, mission essential, controlled inventory or costing $5,000 or more. Although limited IUID functionality exists today to enforce the recording of IUID data into GOLD, future IUID functionality is planned to include reporting of IUID information to the IUID Registry either directly or through Wide Area Work Flow (WAWF).
